This is so confusing.īasically, Reunion is a direct sequel to the plots of X and X2 (featuring the same player character as 2, and picking up right where 2 left off). Terran Conflict is set after the events of Reunion, and allows you to choose your player character from a selection of different starts. There are two "main" plotlines in Terran Conflict, one for the Terrans and one for the Argons (human analogues), neither of which are directly linked to the plotline of Reunion.Īlbion Prelude is a bit further along, and you lose access to the main plotlines from Terran Conflict in exchange for another plotline that builds on the events in Terran Conflict. So from the perspective of the most logical place to start, story-wise, Terran Conflict is probably better than either Reunion or Albion Prelude. Starting with Reunion might require some research to figure out what happened in X2 so you're not confused about the story.Īs far as the difference between the three X3 games, yes, they are all separate installs.Ĭlick to expand. You may be made of sterner stuff than I, but if that's your plan I'd recommend spending only as much time in Reunion as you need to determine whether it's a game you'll enjoy overall or not.ġ) they take a significant amount of time from game start to get anywhere. In my 18 hours, I was only finally starting to feel as though I was getting to the place one would normally get in this sort of game after 2-3 hours. Until then, I was slowly building up capital through solo ship runs, learning what sells well where, slowly investing in system satellites (which I had to watch YouTube video about to know it was a thing) in relevant nearby systems so that I could better track the regional economy. At 18 hours, I still feel very much as though I'm in the first training wheels period of any new game, though those typically only last 30 minutes to maybe 5 hours in other games.Ģ) Because it's a vast true sandbox, it's easy to spend 100s of hours in the game and only get out of it what you put into it. you get what you put into it, and nothing more. Those two things, IMO, mean that a) nobody coming to the series late, like us, is ever going to play Reunion, then TC, then Albion.
